BodyTite

BodyTite is a body contouring treatment that is minimally invasive and has been shown to achieve results similar to more aggressive surgeries such as a tummy tuck. The procedure tightens skin and reduces unwanted fat with minimal downtime. The technology relies on radiofrequency assisted lipolysis (RFAL) to coagulate unwanted fat. Treatment results are consistent thanks to optimal heating control that ensure target areas are not under-heated or over-heated. Every layer of tissue from the top layer of the skin to deep fat deposits responds to different degrees of heat, and BodyTite treatments give your doctor the ability to achieve optimal results by having full control of the heat being delivered.

Studies have called BodyTite a procedure that addresses a “treatment gap” for patients who don’t want surgical-assisted liposuction but do want to sculpt and contour their body while removing unwanted fat. However, many patients opt for both liposuction and BodyTite for even more customized and optimal results. Radiofrequency assisted liposuction is a relatively new procedure, but it has quickly gained in popularity. Liposuction is still the most common cosmetic procedure performed around the world, but an increasing number of patients are prioritizing surgical alternatives like BodyTite. Although this particular treatment is somewhat new, the science behind using radiofrequency energy to induce collagen contraction is well-established and has been used for years.

There are many reasons patients are choosing BodyTite treatments, such as:

  • Tightening the skin while simultaneously reducing unwanted fat, something that patients interested in body contouring are looking for and BodyTite does
  • Giving patients visible results with virtually no recovery period
  • Allowing younger patients an effective way to enhance their body, and BodyTite is suitable for healthy adults of all ages
Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose BodyTite over liposuction?2020-04-28T15:01:54-07:00

BodyTite is considered “radiofrequency assisted” instead of “surgically-assisted.” The anesthesia required for each procedure depends, in part, on the patient. However, BodyTite patients often require less aggressive anesthesia which is a big incentive. Local anesthesia means the patient is fully awake throughout the BodyTite treatment. Local anesthesia is almost never an option for larger liposuction treatment areas.

How hot does radiofrequency assisted liposuction need to be to work?2020-04-28T14:58:49-07:00

Thermally inducing collagen contraction requires soft tissue to be heated to a temperature between 60 – 80°C, which means the skin’s surface is heated from 40 to 42°C. This prime temperature range allows for the restriction of the fibers without destroying them.

What kind of anesthesia is used during BodyTite?2020-04-28T15:00:43-07:00

Most of the time BodyTite is performed with local anesthesia because the internal probe is very small and the treatment time is relatively short. However, in some cases, intravenous sedation or general anesthesia may be recommended.

What happens during a BodyTite treatment?2020-04-28T14:59:42-07:00

The RF energy is delivered from a machine via a handpiece to the target area. An internal probe, which looks like a long needle, is inserted into the lowest layer of fat while an external probe is placed on the skin. All of the tissue between these two probes is treated.

Recovery and More Details on BodyTite

BodyTite is a minimally invasive procedure, which means the recovery period is also minimal. Your exact recovery timeline will depend on how many areas you have treated and the amount of tissue treated. Most patients can expect a full recovery in 2 – 10 days following BodyTite. There may be some minor bruising and swelling that will subside in the days and weeks following the treatment. Patients who are undergoing BodyTite for a special event should schedule their treatment accordingly, preferably at least one month in advance to ensure a full and complete recovery.

A consultation with a Spectrum Plastic Surgery doctor will help patients determine if BodyTite is the right treatment for them and their goals. Contact Spectrum Plastic Surgery today at (480) 579-2090 and learn more about how BodyTite can change your life for the better.
